It's true that moving can be costly, and even the little things—like buying moving supplies—can get expensive. Luckily, there are ways that you can find cheap boxes for your move, so you'll have one less thing on your list to worry about spending money on.

1. Buy Them Through Your Moving Company

If you want a fast and easy way to get affordable boxes, consider talking to your moving company. Many offer package deals that include boxes for a reasonable fee. Even if you are planning on doing the moving yourself, the company that is allowing you to rent a moving truck might offer low-cost boxes to those who rent their vehicles. Plus, you can save time by picking up your boxes from your movers instead of having to hunt them down yourself.

2. Look for Others Who Have Moved Recently

Sometimes, after people unpack all of their stuff, they aren't sure what to do with all of their boxes. Many people don't want to throw them away but don't want to be stuck with them, either. If you check out the local classified listings—including any listings for nearby military bases, if applicable—you may be able to find people who are looking to give away perfectly good boxes. Another great place to look is at a local liquor or wine store—these boxes are typically quite strong, since they have to hold heavy glass bottles. Many retail store managers will be more than happy to give away boxes, but you may have to come back another day to retrieve them, such as the day after shipments usually come in.
