Pod Company Vs. White-Glove Movers

Posted on: 27 February 2016

The world of moving companies is not populated by one-size-fits-all services. Instead, you have various different models of moving companies designed to meet the needs of a diverse customer base. You have some companies who will do everything for you and others that allow you to take various levels of control over the moving process. Two attractive options are white-glove movers and pod companies. Choosing between the two will depend on your abilities and needs.

White-Glove Movers

Moving can be strenuous work from start to finish. You need a strong physique and a sound mind in order to load up boxes and place them in a safe way in a moving truck. You also need calm nerves to drive all of your world possessions from your old to your new home. If you do not feel up to moving, you can hire a full-service or white-glove moving service. Such a company will take care of all aspects of your move from packing boxes in your old home to unpacking them in your new home. They will also typically conduct a careful inspection of your belongings in both locations and insure your belongings while in transit. Thus, if anything is damaged or lost, the moving company will replace it for you.

A Pod Service

When you choose full-service movers, you have to make sure that all aspects of your move are in order. For example, you have to coordinate moving out of your old house so that when you leave your old home your new home is ready to move into. If you have any complications in securing a new home or vacating your old home, you might not be able to move when you thought you would. When you work with a pod company, they will drop off a pod at your house for you to load as you are ready to do so. The company will then come pick up the pod when you are ready to move. If your new home is not ready right away, you can pay to have your pod stored. Finally, the pod company will drop the pod off at your new house and leave it there until you are done moving. Pod companies don't eliminate the work of moving, but they are one of the most flexible options.

Determining between white-glove movers depends on several factors, but chief among them should be your physical abilities and the logistics of your move. If you can't  physically handle moving, then work with white-glove movers. On the other hand, if you are in good health and/or you anticipate complications in your moving process, you should work with pod moving companies
